Plastic skids that are made out of HDPE, are not affected by cold weather....Look at where I am from! I ride all year around and have broken 2 frames from landing hard off of jumps, and yet, my skidplate held up. I've hit rocks and all kinds of stuff, and never had a problem. This is a bais opinion though, because I make and sell these skidplates, so take it for what it's worth.

Anyone tried the Armadillo swingarm skid from Rocky Mountain?

It's made of .250 (1/4") aluminum instead of the .190 (3/16") that PRM uses - it's cheaper as well...

No, but they're sold by Rocky Mountain ATV. They have a pic of one, but I don't think it's for a 400EX.

I don't know if that's their "in-house" brand or if an independent company makes them. Just wondering if anyone here has one or has seen one.

I like the BAJA skid plates made by DG, they add a little weight too but they are a good buy, also get their front bumber it's larger then the stock one and you never know when it will come in handy gettin your quad out of a jam. Dave

Hey Gabe, you are mechanically inclined. Make your own. I made my frame one from 3/16 aluminum and I made my swingarm one out of 1/4 aluminum. Just cut and bend and drill 4 holes. Easy stuff, if you need help, tell me how to send pics, etc...

The dg bumperis nice for picking it up trying to get it unstuck and running over small trees. But don't get to brave with them they still brake.
