Default 400ex question

alright, well first off my 400 was poppin alot when i was bringin it down on compression goin down hils and stuff ever since i put my new head gasket and oversize studs in it, my first thought was to change the plug, so i did and it was still doin it, so i went and re-spaced my valves to the honda specs and it is still poppin but not quite as bad so i was wondein if yall have any sugestions that might solve this. another thing, when i was checkin my valves i noticed a lil bit of oil around my head gasket, i know its not blow cause i have blown plenty head gaskets up untill i installed my oversize head studs, i have about 2 rides worth of time on this new gasket and stud setup and i am thinkin i should go in and retorque the nuts, what do ya all think bout doin that?
Thanks Wreckless

Popping on decel is a lean air screw or pilot jet. Back the air screw out, or go up one on the pilot jet.

Yes re-torque the head
the a/f screw is on the bottom of your carb...loosen the clamps and try to spin it far enough to see in there

Under the carb, between the bowl and the front of the carb. It is brass with a flat slot head. It should be just about flush with the carb.

Default 400ex question

Well i messed with my air fuel screw today and it didnt seem to make a differance, i checked it and when i started it was out 3 full turns, so i tried 2 turns out and then 3 and a half and i was stuck with the same loud popping noise any more sugestions will help as well, another thing is no matter how far i turn my idle ajustment screw in my bike still wont idle, it seems like the idle screw teeds to go about another half turn.

Thanks wreckless
