What ever happened to the guy trying to rig a fan in the airbox to increase airflow?

why get a fan when you can rig up a RAM AIR unit easily?

Ram air is less effective at building pressure than a fan. Especially on an ATV, where riding speeds seldom exceed 40mph, you can't build any pressure at that speed, and at low speeds ram air is useless, whereas a fan will blow the same regardless of speed. Ram Air is effective on cars because you get COOL air into the engine, not hot air from inside the engine compartment. But hot air is not a problem on ATVs.

I duno if this is a hot idea or not but hey, it's an idea and this is a forum and things are up for discussion. What if you took a smaller bottle of compressed air like one of those larger cylinders you use for cutting tourches and somehow managed to use that to put pressure inside your air box but also put a seal so the air from outside would come in the box as well as the compressed mixture. You'd have to have a switch to turn it on like nitros maybe. Just an idea.

What about an aluminum impellar from a jet ski, Sea Doo? I would think that it would be able to withstand the high rpm's and be able to pressurize the air box.

That would definitely be strong enough, but it would also be way too heavy. Even the plastic fan blade that I was using took a considerable amount of time to spin up (about 1/4 of a second). If the fan didn't spin up right away, then that time between hitting full-throttle and the fan getting up to speed, the engine would be running pretty rich because of the large jetting for the blower, and it may be enough to cause the engine to stumble or bog for a second.
