Default hot cams question

i have some questions about my hot cam that i just purchased for my 2005 400ex. has anyone put a stage 1 hot cam in one of these ATVs WITH OUT a big bore kit? if so did you notice a good amount of power increase. will i have to re-jet my ATV after this is installed? im having my honda dealer put this in my ATV so im sure they will tell me what im going to need. i just would like some sort of heads up before i bring it in. is there anything else that i need to know about hot cams??? please respond ASAP, Thanks.

Travis

You might have to lean the carb out a little. The cam will pull more air through the carb, which will draw up more fuel. If it sputters and runs bad, try jetting it down one main at a time. If it runs good now, it should atleast start and run after the cam.

You will notice a little hp change with the cam, but if your motor is still stock, it won't be a dramatic difference. Your dealer will have to rejet your carb when they put the cam in. My suggestion would be to start out with a higher compression piston if you are looking for a very noticeable hp gain. The hotcam will go nicely with a 12:1 or a 13:1 piston.
