I was at a spot in a trail this weekend that i had never been and i considered turning around but there was no where to turn around. I checked out where i had to go and went for it.. why? Cuz i wasnt lettin No Ute show up my sporty. Ute guys like to give sport quads a hard time how they can't climb. And there was a Bomb 800 right behind me on the trail I made it up around right before the top i hit a stump and dropped my right rear tire in a deep rut and lost my traction completly where there wasnt much to begin with on slick red clay in the rain. when i got it stopped i climbed down below the bike to asses the situation agin. and my grab bar was over my head where i could stand to reach it. Steep section. a lil wrestling and we got it the rest of the way up the hill. the ute took some walkin along side and finessing to keep it from rollning while climbing in the rut. But the sporty made it. It may have been more work. but it made it

xlgford, I am a long-time Honda rider. I grew up and honed my riding skills on a Honda 250 Fourtrax and then a Rubicon. The Hondas are very confidence-inspiring machines when it comes to tackling obstacles. Very stable, safe machines and usually have very good balance front to back. Just lean forward as much as you can and let her eat would be my advice to you.

im sorry to interuppt this thread...but dont listen to sick whip..he doesnt have a wheeler and im not bashing him for that....but he posted a thread saying he did a 120 ft and 700ft gap on a 250 that had a diamond axle....
anyways back to the topic...i used to have a 250 and it was my second wheeler..the first was a 1985 trx 125 ( not very good for the old confidence bulding thing) but the 250 is a good machine...it built my confidence alot....just take ur time and start on some smaller hills to get used to it and then gradually move up.....the way down isnt as bad as it seems because your going down not up and in a way you get to see what could happen and try to prevent it ( as in if you tip over you dont really know whats behind you )
so just take it easy and start of small...no one can just go climb a huge hill right off....its like learning to ride a bike...and some people learn better and have more confidence then others

tell you what the worse hills to climb are ones you gota go sideways on or go down it sideways and climb another. When me and a friend first started riding in one area we climbed a long hill but it ran out so we went down the side of it and climbed another then turned left to start going up again we did that for 3 or 4 hills till we got to top.

The first time I went out to sand ridin (only 14 years old) I didn't want to go up the "big hill", but later that day I went up and it was nothin. Since it is a regular riding hill. Anyone ever been to Armagosa, Nevada. Pretty fun, I go out there often with my cousin and uncle and we stay in Veags, long trip though (live in michigan). Very fun, we know a guy out there so we get free rentals on 2005 400ex's... great fun. Would very much recomend to anyone who is goin out there or lives around there.

I havent really ever wussed out of any hills since i bought my own quad.Ive rolled it several times from trying stupid stuff but im only 15 and i can heal faster than a lot of people out there. There isnt anything wrong with not trying something your not comfortable with.Me and my buddies have been riding all the time and we are always trying to outride each other.Just dont try anything without confidence.Just my .27 cents
