Keeping it bone stock
#1
I guess i am an old man when it comes to modifications on vehicles. I never liked aftermarket stuff to replace perfectly good equipment designed speciafically for something.
A buddy complained my rancher was not tall enough, tires sucked, need this and that. I finally told him I bought my quad becase I like it the way it is designed from the factory. If I wanted chrome this and that I might as well build my own quad and orders the frame if i was interested in changing things around. To each there own but I like my ride to stay orginal.
Anyone else into stock atvs?

Well I am for the most part but I did install a winch, rear rack basket and most importantly, a Warn 424 on my 05 Rancher. Other than that I have made no mods to anything else.
The Warn 424 in my honest opinion was the best investment I ever made for my Rancher.

I'm into the older stock atv's so far the only 'vintage' quad I got is my Quadracer 250 which is completely stock except for nerf bars, but it's for sale so.........

Mine is stock, I think. I bought different tires but the stock size. I have added a winch and a few other small items. No pipe, K&N air filter, jet kit, or lift.
I bought Maxxis Bighorns and I am very pleased with them, great ride and great in the snow.
For the most part it is still stock. I believe they are more dependable and will last longer un-modified.

I can see adding a basket , winch stuff like that I consider that still a stock bike.
I agree with the above poster that an ATV is most relaible in stock form and give you longest service life.
Imagine having the carb jetted, some weird valves or whatever and you break down on a out of area atv trip. If you have a modded bike with oddball parts it would take days to get them ordered and your quad moving again.

yeah stock is probably going to give you the longest life, putting a lift and 28's on the fourwheeler is going to take some life away from it, but i doubt that the amount that is taken away would not even be noticeable, if it is installed right, such as engine modifications and such, it should last just as long as stock
