Default piston/cylinder

I have a 88 honda 250x the piston was replaced one but not bored ever my piston rings went bad and the quads been smoking for sometime now would this cause scaring of the cylinder nd there fore make me have to bore it????

the smoking wont cause scarring, but it's a good idea to bore when you replace a piston or rings. At the very least, have the cylinder HONED. Just putting in a new piston and rings without a fresh cylinder surface wont let the rings break in properly and could cause issues like smoking.
