I was just wondering how often everyone's fan kicks on. I have had mine for about a month n a half and it has never kicked on. the temp outside hasn't been above 75 when i've been riding either. Also, the clear tube that comes out of the bottom of the fan on mine is kink and i can't get it to stay unkinked. will this create a problem or should i not worry about it. thanks for the info.

i have an 04 and although i dont watch the fan while i ride- as opposed to watching where i'm going- i have noticed it on a few times. it has preset temp that triggers it. remember, that on a watercooled engine you have to keep air moving through the radiator for optimum cooling; sometimes, due to riding/hot temp outside, this cant always be done, so honda put a fan on it (ingenious) that is triggered by a certain temp; I know in the banshee's manual it says to shut the engine off if you are going to stay still for awhile. Though it is a 2 stroke and prone to getting hot quickly, the principle is applied to the newer 4 strokes as well. Keep air flowing for cooling. I think the honda manual says it, but dont quote me.
It does say it in my truck's manual.
i would think that you would have seen it by now or maybe just have never noticed. the 06 engine is more volitle, has no oil cooler like the 04/05 models, so i would think that Honda would not have overlooked this fact and have set the fan a little more sensitive to kick on more frequently than previous models.
hot temp+ hot oil=oil breakdown
oil breakdown leads to more rapid engine wear/problems

HondaMan440ex, I've asked the same question on several sites. Always get the same answer. It almost never comes on. Mine too has the kink on the end of the hose and that also seems to be normal.
I just got my DMC exhaust a couple of days ago. Sounds great.
