I have FINALLY gotten around to tearing the 400ex apart (a friends bike, VERY heavily abused) So far, the clutch, the valve guides and seals are junk, timing chain, the cylinder is wore completely out, and the rod is so beat up that I had to DRIVE out the wristpin with a hammer and punch. I will be splitting the cases next weekend and getting things ready to be shipped out for rebuilding/modifying.
I need information on who all builds stroker/bigbore kits for the 400ex.. I know just about everybody sells the Wiseco piston and IMS liner for the 440 kit... but i've got him (the owner) talked into going all out. I know FST did a 500cc once, but thats Mickey "Onelap".. the idea is to keep some sort of durability.... NOT a HAND GRENADE!!..
Also, has anybody installed the HYDRAULIC CLUTCH system on one of these bikes and how do you like it. There was one on a tricked out Banshee at the drag races and it seemed to work well, so thats another addition that will end up on the EX.
