Honda TRX450r '06 vs. '05

22" paddles.....great idea, Dunefoot, that solves the problem and you are absolutely right, it is built for racing, and with the right parts and mods, I can fine tune it for my riding needs. I still would like to ride the '06, and then I can make a decision based on experiance.

I want to let you guys know what happened over the weekend.
I was visiting my Sis and Bro-in-law who have an '05 400ex and two '05 450r's including one with the HRC kit, and I went to the dealership where they bought theirs last year, with the intention of getting the '05 450r. The salesman, who is 2 years younger than me and had also sold one of my other Bros' a '05 450r 2 weeks ago, asked me a number of questions and then highly recommend the Suzuki Z400. The store has all the major brands except Polaris. After much contiplation (or is it constipation?!?), I ended up with the Z400 (my head won out over my ego!). He said all the 450's of the major brands were designed for motocross, and were pretty much race ready. The last time I raced in motocross was back in 1984 on an It-250 Yamaha. He said a sport quad would be best for my style of riding. Besides, since I am keeping the Banshee, I could still kick butt racing up Oldsmoble with it.
I told him that I was really trusting his judgement, and I will really be pissed off if I did not like this quad after riding it! , but I appreciated him taking a lot of extra time in trying to sell me a ride that would fit me best, (the store was very busy, and he had other customers waiting).
Anyway, thanks everyone for the input and suggestions on the thread.

The z400's are awesome on the trails. Plenty of low end power. I have watched a z400 outrun my buddies 660 raptor consistantly but the raptor supposedly has traction issues.
I almost got a z400 but the one I was looking at was a used 03. Which have bad problems with the frame cracking.
