400ex or warrior?
#2
I had the same decision to make about 2 monthes ago. I wound up buying the 400 and I am glad I did. However, I have a friend who bought a warrior and he loves it. If you are so lazy that you want reverse, go ahead and buy the warrior, it is slower than the 400 though. The 400 has alot more low end a alittle more top end. hope i helped

I made my decision Memorial Day weekend. 400EX with no regrets. I've ridden both and have friends who have Warriors and I ride with them often. Warriors are ok, but the EX feels so much lighter in the woods. My EX is stock except for a skid plate to protect my investment and it will probably remain stock. The only thing I'm disapointed in is the tires. The stock ones handle and hook up very well but they are easily punctured. Good Luck.

i'd say go with the EX.. after riding the warrior of my friends and seeing all the problems they are having with them i'm glad i got quality from Honda... since i've bout it nothing has gone wrong but the only thing i've found bad on it is the soft, easily puntured tires as moorefun has mentioned, but these will soon be replaced by some Razrs or holeshots

I owned a 99 warrior and it was a great machine.......bullet proof, but a 400 ex does handle just a little better and is faster, also the motor feels so much smoother. The only drawback is no reverse on the EX. Honda needs to put reverse on those things and sales would sky rocket. I have a Wolverine now and love it but I would have to say if you want a good handling fast quad go with the EX. The warrior is no slouch.

The Warrior is a little nose heavy over jumps if you are not used to it, it weighs about 400lbs and it is shy of 20hp but any decent rider can have a blast on one.

I had a 2000 400EX for the whole summer. I sold the Honda, now I own a 2000 Yamaha Warrior. The 400 EX is the better machine, hands down, for the gravel pit jumping and hillclimbing that I do.
Both are equally mechanically reliable in my experience (of course, mine were both new). The warrior is fun, and can do all the same stuff the 400 can, but without the same feel and power. The 400 feels lighter over jumps, has lots more power, and has way better stock suspension. It also has a significantly better turning radius, which I find more useful on trails than the reverse.
Both are good machines, if you want a performance quad, get the EX. You won't outgrow it as fast, and if you get the Warrior and your friends have the EX, you'll be jealous. Im going to get the 400 big bore kit and nerfs for the warrior to see if I can build a competative one, but its not worth the work. Hindsight is 20/20, I urge you to buy the EX.
Also, when you buy either one, pipe and jet it and put on a K&N filter. It transforms either machine like you wouldn't believe.
