I'm from Watertown,NY.And we got over a foot of that wet heavy wet snow.I can drive through it ok.But if we get more of the heavy wet stuff forget it.But the wet heavy stuff when it freezes makes a good base. It"s cold now so if it snows it will be the powder snow.It is fun to drive on it.When lake Ontario turns to ice.It" a ball.

i dont know about you people but i'm ansiously awaiting for snow here in Montana.... I havent had a nice winter for almost 5 years and that was one of the worst winters here for a while, had snow drifts packed to the top of our garage... i'd say the only things u need are a very nice pair of gloves, always pack another set of dry glove... just in case, and have some nice coveralls, get a nice face mask and maybe a slim hooded sweat shirt... i put on my face mask and then slip my hood over it and slide on a helmet and gogles to keep my eye sight clear.. a shovel would be ok if u think ur gonna get stuck often and if u're going to do some riding on ice i'd get a set of chains
thats all i can think of that I use.. good luck

Here in the Yukon I ride all winter, even at 40 below. For that kind of riding, good gloves are a must, along with full-face helmet, goggles, mask, and lots of layers under a good ski-doo suit.
Many riders here use hand-grip warmers and thumb warmers. Works great if your machine can spare the power.
When the snow gets deep I ride the packed ski-doo trails and it works great (except sometimes when you drop a front wheel into the soft snow and get sucked into the trees!)
I've tried to calculate the wind-chill factor for going 40mph at -40 C across a frozen lake, but the charts don't go that low! Sure is fun though.

Hey guys we had about 3 to 4inches. We were just north of the heavy snow that Buffalo got. Today the ice was frozen enough to ride on, slide it, spin, etc.

There's only one way to beat the snow. Buy a sled. Once we get a few 30 degree days, I park my quad for the winter. I just can't see the point of going out and getting all muddy just to freeze your *** off! Besides I'll be making a few trips to NY this year to do some sledding. So I still get my riding in.
