As long as the oil has an SG rating and no moly, (this eliminates modern automotive oils), and its 10w 40,its good to go. Let your wallet decide how much you need to spend.

Use the Honda GN4 SAE 10W-40 SJ it is about the same price as regular motor oil but designed for 4 stroke quads and motorcycles.

Good Oil Article: http://www.thumperfaq.com/oil.htm

Pick a motorcycle specific oil that is API SG/JASO MA.

I personally prefer Maxima Extra, an ester synthetic. It's the best oil out there, but a bit more expensive! http://www.maximausa.com/technical/l...beNews2002.pdf

The oils weight, is going to be determined by the outside temperature: 5W30 for very cold weather, 10W40 for in between, and 20W50 for very hot summers.
