i recently got a repair manual for my 98 300ex and i was reading it! it says that you should take out the spark arrester in the stock exhaust and clean it! what happens if you take it out and leave it out? does it help in performance - sound at all? does it hurt the quad leaving it out? thanks

probably not... it's not liek a baffle, like on the 400

 

Most people in this area take the arrestor out, including myself. I don't know of anyone having any problems with it. It does make it sound a little better in my opinion, not that much louder though.
