I've wanted a Fox GT for a while now but havn't really came upon a good deal. I've been debating on selling my 4 wheeler for a while to buy one, But I don't think I could get much out of my 400 even though its mint. Well a friend of mine said he's willing to trade me his '87 Mustang GT 5.0 5 speed, for my 400. I think that sounds really good because that car could prolly sell for like 5 grand and I could'nt get 3 out of mine. The car needs a little work but nothing I'm not capable or willing to do. I would work on it no matter what so that doesn't really matter to me, but it runs real strong, sounds evil, and only has 70,000 original miles on it. I need some advice on wether or not I should do it, what do you think?

 

I think that sounds like you should have a mustang instead of a quad.

Wheelie, do what makes you happy. I've dabbled in cars quite a bit and know what kind of money can be sunk in 'em. I'm also a mustang guy. Current-- '65 coupe, 90 GT (with 14,000 miles), previous--'90 LX Limited Ed 7-up and you can't go wrong with a good 5.0 IF it is in good shape. The bad stuff can be hidden and get very costly. I personally would be on edge if someone wanted to trade a 5G 5.0 for a 3G quad. But, you know what opinions are like.

screw the GT. i love the 5.0 302 engine. great engine. but that was near the ugliest body style they ever had. plus i dont think any car on the planet has seen the abuse that the GTs take (some break b/c of it..allot)

at least the camaros from that era like the IROCs and z28s dogged it on looks.

anyway, i guess those cars sell more up there than down here b.c a freind of mine recently sold his MINT 90 or 91 GT for $3500. it had power everything...he asked if i wanted it- i just laughed.. they are fast but not very refined...ok flame away.

but the decision is yours. if you want the car get it....if you want to ride, keep the 400. if you think you can get it and sell it and get another bike, then do it, its that simple. it comes down to what do you want more?

 

THanks for all of the opinions, I almost think I would be happier driving a mustang everyday, because I don't ride my quad that often anymore I just like to take it to the sand dunes. But my buddy would prolly let me take his 400 to the dunes. And If I didn't like the stang or it gave me problems I could sell it and get either another 5.0 or a 450. I was riding that new suzuki 450 at the dunes memorial day weekend and that thing was a blast to ride. My buddys honda 450 is faster and more fun but it has alot of money into it. But yeah a 450 could be another option if the car isn't what I want. I think i'm going to load my 400 in my truck right now and head over to the guys house and let him look it over real good and I'm gonna take that mustang for a little test run. I'll let you know how it goes.

yeah, its not my best work there. im not a good typist and it shows on here really well in these forums with no spell checker! i think way faster than i type....

but it doesnt matter, he is getting the GT anyway. but yeah you are right the late 70's early 80's sucked as well.

put it this way: i like the 64 and up and especially the 67(?) that was in Gone in 60 Seconds! i love that car. I didnt care for any of the 80's styles. it looks like a design puke. its square, angular and 'choppy' looking. the camaros from that era looked way better to me. give me a 91/92 z28 any day over those.

i do like the 94 and up mustangs.

 

well im not gonna get into the chevy ford argument, but the camaros from those years looked like ***. all the camaros but the most recent one looked like ***. i would take a foxbody anyday over one of those. all of the v8s from like mid 80s to mid 90s are 5.0's
