400EX Tire Question?
#1
I have been told that a Maxxis Razr 20x11-9 will fit on the stock wheel of a 2001 400EX. Which is a 10 inch wheel. Ive been told they will overhang just a little and this is not a problem. I'm not going to put these tires on and have them fall off when I'm riding am I?

if your rims are 10 inches, and the tires are 9 inches they wont work. you would need something with a 10 at the end instead of 9. a 20x11-10 would work. are you sure the stock tire on a 400ex is a 10?

Head out to the garage and take a look. The size is stamped right on the rim. The stock rear rims are 9X8" (9" high and 8" wide). Front is 10X5.5".
These will fit the Razr's, but they are narrow and give the tire kind of a rounded profile. A better rear rim choice would be ITP T-9 rim, which are 9X9" and have a 3+6" offset. This will make your quad +3" wider for a nice increase in stability, yet it won't be so wide that it can't be trail ridden.
Replace the front rims as well with ITP's, and you will be +2-3" up there too.
Spend the extra money for new rims, it's worth it!

Sorry my bad your right TL450R the stock wheels are 9. And I just bought brand new OEM wheels so I dont really want to upgrade just yet so I think I'll just buy the tires. Thanks for the advice.

turf tamers are also a great tire and are cheeper i have had them on my 400ex for a full season and thay don't even have any wear and gbc shredders or ground busters are relly good for the front thay also havent worn any and the itp rims are a good idea if you want better stabilaty and looks good luck

I had turf tamers on there before and they still have a pretty good amount of tread but I thought I would try somthing different thats why I'm going with the Razrs.

The stock rims are bead rolled and much better than t-9's. Just keep your stock rims and put the razors on, they will work fine. Turf tamers are a totally different tire than what you are talking about. Get the Razors or a Holeshot.
