Default Jetting Question

So I recently jetted my 2005 Trx 450r and was not very happy with the results.... I purchaced the dyno jet stage 2 kit, installed the needle and jet and didnt see much of a difference. I am using the 165 jet with the needle on the 4th clip.... I have a full FMF exhaust and K&N Filter with no lid ... any suggestions ??? Would a larger jet help... What all have you tried....

Default Jetting Question

first off, i would get rid of the dyno jet kit, i have been told my many people that it doesn't get same performace as the stock jets. right now i am running a 148 with the dyno jet needle because my 06 CRF 450 needle has not came in yet. I am running a full dmc exhaust, with a k & n but with the lid still on. as long as your plug looks good, then you are jetted right. i have been playing with mine for a long time, and if you dont' know what to feel for, you prolly won't notice much a differnce between jets. I am running with my needle in the middle posistion. which i believe is the 4th spot. i will let you know how the set up works with the CRF needle after i get it installed

Default Jetting Question

I am running a 185 main jet, 50 pilot jet and I dropped the clip to the very bottom and didn't adjust the air/fuel mixture screw.
I have a 480 big bore (ran the same jetting with stock bore) stage II Hotcam, Uni filter,no lid, FMF Q2 slip-on and ported and polished head.
With no lid and a K&N filter I would say bump your main to at least a 178 or 180 with stock jets. Not the dyno jet. The '04 and '05 450R's came with a 118 stock main but run very lean when you remove the lid without bumping the main up high enough.
