Default 250ex oil filter???

There's no "normal" pleated/disposable oil filter like on the 300ex's and up. I used to own that bike, and I thought that was weird. So, to compensate, I changed the oil like every time I rode. Having been inside many motorcycle engines, I suspect that there's what's sometimes called a sump screen, which is a screen-door type screen before the oil pump in the oil circuit, meant to keep the "chunks" (yea i know that souds scary) out of your oil pump. I would recommend changing your oil more often than not, because the 250ex has multipe clutches (centrifugal and regular gear shifting clutch) which I believe are both wet. (Also there's no fine-grit oil filter, like I said)

As for the every year or two thing, I donno. I'm gonna go look at my brother's bike (the current owner of my old 250) to see if I can find it. Buy a Clymers. :-P

Default 250ex oil filter???

On the engine breakdown, ALL I can find is the strainer screen assembly. I was right about that. After reading the manual 5 minutes ago and staring at my brother's engine, I have concluded that there is no oil filter cover or easily accessable oil filter anywhere. Good luck.
