choke question?
#1
I have a 92 fourtrax 300 2 wheel drive. I need a new starter valve for the choke on the carb but it is 45 dollars. If I just plugged the hole off on the carb would it work right or does it need the needle in there? Because I dont need the choke in the middle of the summertime in LA.

I don't know the answer to your question, but I think I would rather pay 45 Bucks on an easy fix, then spend even more on something else later on caused by your little Jimmy job.

Youd have to be careful what you plugged it with. You dont want to plug any passages, with debrie from the fix. Its got be gasoline resistant, and not crumble or fall apart. What needs to be plugged, is way down inside that hole, and not just sealing off the top.
Its posible to use the black rtv, which is oil and gas resistant, and it should come out in one plug when youre ready to fix it proper. Dont go over board, just use enough to do the job.

So when the needle is down in the hole would that be choke on? I just didnt know how the choke worked in the carb. I am curious about the starter valve and when u pull the cable to choke does the needle come up or does it go down in the carb?
