The vibrate like crazy, you jam gears twice as often and they don't wheelie for chit (takes more skill). Those are the drawbacks. The R is better suited for open areas and drags and the EX is better suited for general rec riding.

they really dont have any glaring weaknesses at all. just look over the usual stuff bearings, breaks, motor noises, tranny feel, and such.the 86 is alittle longer and has a steel swinger and seems more plentiful.the only thing your losing is that pansy electric start!!! lol

The 250r is an awsome quad. My neighbor has a 330 kit and FMF pipe in his and it smokes banshees, 450r's and Quadzillas. I have video from when we were at the dunes and nothing could beat it all weekend. I just need to figure out how to post a 15min video. Can anyone tell me how or where to post a long video with these races?

are you on crack? what vibration, what gear jamming, hard to wheelie. come to pa. ,i'll let you ride a good 250r! mine is smooth, very fast, and woods ridden. i like the 400ex , and lose the if you dont have a 400ex its junk mentality dude! and i wheelie with throttle only in 4th gear with 14,39 gearing. the 400ex wheelies easy because of weight distribution, not big power!!

A) Never been on a 2-stroke that didn't vibrate more than a 4 stroke.
B) That 2-stroke produces it's turque over about a 3-4K rpm range versus 5-6K for the EX.
C) See B, it takes more talent to balance and hold a wheelie on the R with the hard hitting power band.
D) KMA.
