450 or raptor 700 help
#1
Need help!Im 6ft 4 and around 250 lbs will be mostly trail riding, some track, hot ******* wheelies etc.I have been told that the 400s would be to small for someone of my size.I have come to the conclusion that I need a 450 or 700 raptor. However I like 700 raptor but dont want this bike to work me to hard or feel bulky I want to be able to toss the bike around when I need to.Out of the 450s I would have to say I like the honda 450r the best as far as the seatin position but have been told that honda had some handling issues. Will the 450r out handle the 700 or how would they compare is it a big differance? What would be a good used 450?Is the 700 raptor worth the price differance between the 450r?Its about $1000 differance. Thanks for the help

you know what im gonna say go honda all they way, the 450 is lighter, and handles great, im 6'4 my self and find the 450r a perfect fit. gobs of power, if you get the 450 get the hrc kit it makes a world of diff pull wheeleies in any gear at any speed. by far i would go with the honda than a 700 just think of all the weight you will have with that 700 versus a 450? theres pics in the profile if you wanna take a look. oh and if you wanna know a 450 will beat a 700

If mainly going to trail ride I would also suggest the 700 but alot just comes down to personal preference. I would ride both and pick from there. They are both great quads. In trails the 700 will not work you to hard. We mainly ride fast trails and ride hard all day. Im not a big guy (5'8 160lbs) and it doesnt wear me out at all. I ride with a yfz 450 and we ride the same areas and both handle it well. Each just shines in different areas.
Here is what I notice in differences where we ride and why we picked different quads
1) Fast trails (This is the favorite riding for both of us) I beleive the quads handle them equally as well. If he leads Im right on him and same vice versus.
2) Slow technical trails ( I prefer these more than other guy) The 700 is alot better suited for these. Lugs down better has tons of torgue for slow take offs and has reverse.
3) Whoops and high banked turns (other guy enjoys these more than me) The 450 handles alot better on both.
4) Jumping (enjoy equally) Not going to really compare these as we are not huge jumpers. For what we do they handle equally well but for big jumps Im sure the 450 would handle better.
5) Drag racing (we spend very little time racing) when both where stock I won. He added a full HMF and GYTR filter and he won most the time. I have now added mods but we wont be back out till sunday. This is just the results with us so take it for what its worth.
