I wasnt trying to be rude or anything in my last reply, I was just saying that to make it faster than a 400ex you would have to put more than $400 worth of mods on it. Plus you would have to put on better shocks and a new clutch because my step father has one and those are the weak points on it. I think if you already own the 300ex Its a good idea to modify it instead of buying a new one, but plan on spending at least $800 - $1000 if you want to beat a 400ex

I know you guys with 400's love em and you have a right to just like i love my 300. I could go and buy a 400 but i would rather pay less for parts to make mine up to par b/c it is paid for . I just like the way it handles in the woods which is where i ride most of the time. If i can beat some 400's on the trail when it is mostly stock i can only imagine what it will be like with a bigger bore. I havent really completly decided just yet what i am gonna do though b/c like the other guy said 400ex's are better suited for bigger riders and i am 6'2 so i am a little cramped in a way. i am just weighing my options right now. Its just like anything else you get something and when you get used to it you want something better. the question now is pay 100$ a month for 3 more years or pay 1000$ and be done with it.

Hey you get that 330 kit. Cuz the only way you will beat a 400 in the woods is if there is a crappy rider driving the thing. O and suspension don't go there cuz the 300 has none unless you want to spend $1000 on works or some other aftermarket shocks. You get your kit and go challenge someone good on a stock 400, and you will be crossing the line in last place

hey say what you want. At the trails i ride (most of which are very tight and technical) i have beat all but one 400ex i have come across a few that started in front of me that i had to chase down and pass em! and no they werent guys who just bought their 400's yesterday either. most of em ride with me every day! true it could be the rider but i have rode 400's on the same trails and they just cant go as fast as i can get my little 300ex . All you other 300ex trail riders back me up on this one! Now put me on a mx track and all i see is dust. that is why i want a bigger bore.

Man Tc is pretty good but for " really fast four strokes" go to sparks . They made my 400 into a basnhee eating machine ! Besides Tom is way to erigant ! Curtis is one of the nicest guy's i know ! besides they make atleast 4 or 5 more HP out of ex's thatn tc does.

I have raced my cousin on his 400ex when I was on my 300 in the woods.I beat him!I knew the trails better. But most of them are up hills and he should have the power to keep up.I can weave through trees where he would be running into them because his bike is wide.300ex's are great bikes so are 400's.People buy what they want to so don't go talking smack on other peoples qauds.

If you want to talk who is the fastest I will race you on my 250r on a mx track. My 250 is 2 wide for the woods!

The 300ex is a great machine. For the guy that said the 300 has no suspension, I think the 300 suspension is great for trails. It's so smooth and soft. It's like you are on air. Where as on my 400ex, it's a rougher ride because the shocks are set up more for jumping and aggresive riding. I haven't been beat by any 300's, but for what they are, they are top of the line and top of their rank. I'm sure there are some modded 300's out there that could probably rip me to shreds, but I don't care. I just want to have fun. Like cstarks 330 would probably kill me, but oh well. I know he is in it for the fun, not to brag.

i have an 88' 250x and a 99' 400ex. I love both machines they both have their good an bad qualities. The 250x is underpowered and its high speed handeling is not ne thing like the 400 but it can take tight stuff a heck of a lot quicker then my 400 can. I ride the 400 when i feel like going fast and i ride the 250x when i jsut wanna cruise. If u wanna go fast get the 400ex cause it has a lot more potential then the 300ex as far as handeling and horsepower
1999 Honda 400EX with a PowerCore IV Silencer, DYNO JET Jet Kit, WHITE BROS rev kit, Answer Aluminum Handle Bar w/ Pro grips, Armadillo skid plate, Bandit XC’s on Douglas .190’s, K&N air filter with outerwears with holes drilled in the air box, and ebc pads all around

and a bone stock 250x

i sold my X to get one of the first 400s around here the sold it 3 weeks later and bought my X back. i didnt like the feel of the 400. something bothered me about it and i missed my old 265! ill never part w/ her again! (oh yeah i used to own a warrior, then banshee, 250R, then the X, the 400 then the X again and its been my fav so far!) its time to give her some motor now! im thinking about a 300 crank and a TC 330 kit too!
