DONT HAVE A BEAD BREAKER.... WHAT TO DO???

hey guys.... i got a flat on my new 400... its beyond plugging repair.... so i am gonna put a tube in it... anfd i dont have a bead breaker... what should i do??? any help would be appriciated!!thanx

short of the jack method...........I had four to do, and finally went down to th local tire shop,
asked what they wanted to break the beads....
They did it for nothing and it would have been worth paying them. It was still a pain getting the tires off but it would have been pure !%@!

I use a bumper jack. The old style that came with a '76 Oldsmobile Cutlass. It is pretty hard to do on the stock Ohtsu tires because they are so flimsy. I think you would be farther ahead to take them somewhere to have the rubber removed, unless you have good health insurance and don't mind some pain... Don't bother trying a tube in there. It won't work worth a darn. Save some time, hassle and money, buy a new tire. I am not sure what a new Ohtsu cost, but you might be farther ahead to get a set of differnt tires. The stockers are too wimpy. I slashed the sidewall on mine when it was one week old
The rears roll over really bad if you run the recommended pressure, which I did. Then, I figured out that you have to run about 8 psi to get them to withstand any abuse. Also, the fronts on mine would fold over so bad at 4psi, rocks and grass would embed in the bead area. I pumped them up to 8psi and have no problems now. I still have the original fronts on mine, got 6 ply Shredders for the rear now. No complaints.

I made one by cutting a piece of 1/2 inch thick metal just a tad bigger than the outside diamator of the wheel then welded a loop on the top to press down on. it worked great on the big red tires but for older tires on my 200SX i even picked up a jeep with the forklift and set it down on top of the beed breaker, the tire just stretched and never broke the bead... the tire shop had to cut it off with tin snips and a hack saw. The bumper jack method should work. Put the base of it as close to the rim as possible, and as you work the jack, hammer the foot of it under the lip of the rim if possible. The stock tires are fairly flimsy, and you want to get the foot of the jack as close to the bead as possible, or else the jack will just keep slipping off. When you start to pick the car up, release the jack, turn the tire about 1/8 round one way or another & try again. Keep going back & forth & you will eventually get it, if your patience will last long enough.
I never had, nor knew anyone who had any luck at all with an inner tube in an ATV tire, though. You might be as well off getting a new one.

I had a similar problem in breaking the beads, but found a very simple and painless process for removing tires. Drive over them with my truck. This does take two people but is very quick and effortless. One to drive the vehicle, and one to watch the tire and direct the driver. Align the tire under the front tire so the sidewall area is lined up with the edge of the truck tire. Make sure that when you slowly pull forward that the edge of the truck tire rolls directly over the bead area (right between the ATV rim and the sidewall). The key is to go SLOW. Once the truck is directly on the bead if it does not break, just sit there for a few seconds. It usually takes a few tries. If it does not work, back up and have the other person rotate the tire and try another area of the tire. It should work very well. Hope this helps. Oh yeah, dont forget to remove the valve stem from the tire.

thanx a lot guys.... i already tried the jack method.... and paul thats were we rtried it, at tims... and we wer gonna try to drive it over but his dad wouldnt do it... thjanx for the help..

Don't know if it works for ATV tires, and if I'm taking about the right thing...you want to unstick your tire from the rim...right? If not, then don't waste your time reading...
Anyways, something that works when you want to separate tire/rim.
Put the tire on the ground on its side.
Take a ramp-like thing.
Put one end on the tire (only on the tire...not the rim). The other end wherever you want.
Drive on the ramp-like stuff with your car/truck.
Your tire WILL separate from the rim.
That's how most people do it with their 4x4 trucks. It works when the sidewall is high...don't try this on your brand new Mercedes CLK GTR tires...335/30/18 (or something like that).
