Default 250ex mods

this is my first post and ive read all the other 250 ex threads so i know every1 is probably tired of em but i got one more sorry guys. me and my gf are going to by a new 250 ex im an experienced rider she isnt lol. we are both small im 5'6 125lbs she is a lil smaller no we arent 12 just small lol. we live in wayne wv and have a small piece of land 200 acres and are wanting it to ride around the property on and play in the snow on the road and such most of our trails are ridge trails and not many hills there is a few that ive been wary to take the bro in laws foreman on but thats not the purpose of this one. i was wondering some good mods for the 250 its the first atv ive bought ive rode all my life on friends and relatives. topend is not a matter id much rather just have some decent accel to throw a lil more dust up on bro in laws face. plus its cheap credit sux so cheaper is better. so start listing the mods and the dificulty of doing em please. thanx for all the help and tips ahead of time

i would get tires first(that's what i'm doing). from my research i like the itp holeshot xct's. from there you can go with a slip on pipe and jet kit. after that there really isn't much else you could do to it, that is worth the money you are dumping into it. if you want more mods than that i would just get a 300ex or an older 400ex.

understand i have a 250ex and i love it. if you are going to dump around 1K in mods just as well save some dough and go with a bigger cc and that way you don't have to mod as much...pipe,jet kit and tires is about all i would do to it. anything else save your money and get a bigger bike...

Tires! Those balooney stock tires are terrible. We are running the new ITP Trac Star radials on ITP T-9 rims, and it makes the quad several inches wider and quite a bit more stable. The radials contribute to the quad's limited suspension as well. Handles great, and finally the 250 has that light feel of the Blaster I had back when I was a beginner!

On any quad, I always put on nerf bars (they will save your leg some day!), skid plate, and a bumper.

As for the engine, you can vent the airbox lid a little (Four UNI 1" round filtered vents), UNI air filter, and put on an aftermarket muffler (FMF MegaMax II), and it will wake up the power quite a bit.

Another thing to consider is tire SIZE. The 250 comes with tall 22" rear tires. Stay with 22's if you think you need the ground clearance. If ground clearance isn't a big issue, try some 20's and you will gain some low end torque and climbing ability (but at the expense of some high end speed).

Here's what I did to our. Nerf bars, bumper, skid plate, hand guards for the Protection part. For the performance I vented the air box and replaced the restrictive air filter with a Uni-filter,rejetted the carb by replacing the stock 96 or 98 main with a 112 and bumped up the piloet one size also. Then I added a white brothers slip on exhaust. If it dosent run any faster it sure sounds like it does!
Oh yea, took rangerrecons advice and replaced the stock tires with Maxima Razors2. Agraphic kit is coming next month.
