Default brakes still dont work

so ive been needing brakes for awhile now and i deicided to do them (thay are drum brakes) so i put the new ones in and the old ones were very worn when i put everything back together and adjusted the brakes they still dont work, when i adjust em the bottom of the shoe rubs, then i back it off a little but what i need is to adjust the top of ther shoe to get it closer and not the bottom anyone know how to do this

Assuming everything is installed right. Are you ajusting both adjusters? 2 per wheel. Looking at the wheel there is one on each side. Its been awhile since I done this but the right one you turn forward and the left you turn back towards the quad. This is looking at the wheel.

yea i adjusted the wheel untill it locked up then i let off a little and then i took it for a ride and its still like it was with the old brakes its work for a little while then you need to adjust em again and even after i adjust it i most definatly wouldnt rely on them because it takes forever to stop

I had a similar problem with my front brakes. After adjusting both adjusters they have worked fine for ove 300 miles. I wish I could be more help.

i dont think i can take it back, but how do you know, because there is alot of freeplay in the brake handle, and it just seems like it dosnt have any pressure

because i've prolly done it on 6 different ranchers, all with the exact same issue, i replaced the master cylinder on one and it gained no more braking power then the rest where i just drained the brakes, if the fluid is gold its defintely the fluid needing to being changed
