Default Got a quick question!

Instead of spending 10 grand on a 4x4 ATV i think it may be better just to go with a old 400EX, throw in some mudlights, maybe some other mods and off to the trail's... i was thinking, the ol' ATC's were 2wd, chain drive, and could go many places.. but could i get a 400EX to do that? most of the time ill be trail riding but once in a while ill hit some water and light mud/snow. (nothing over a foot deep) Any suggestions? i heard 2wds can go most places 4wds go... but those were 2wd ute. ATV's and not the sport quad type.

thanks in advance!

yes you could but the thing with sports are that the swingarms are much lower than 4x4s so if you get into a 4x4s tracks most of the time you will be getting the rear tires lifted off the ground. also mudlights wouldent be the best choice you'de be better off with some Bearclaws or excavators. the excavators will give you alot more capability but are more of a big baloon. the bear claws will be just as good as a knobby would be but give you the capabilytys of a mud tire.

all I have are sports a 300EX and a cannibal 440 but my dad has a Rancher 350 and I have had no problems goin where he does in the mud sometimes it is a little bit more of a challenge but that just makes it a little more fun also if you do find yourself in the tracks of a 4x4 then all you have to do it rock it back and forth and that will usually get you goin again

thanks for the quick reply's! i like the looks of those bear claws you mentioned, but would they be harder on the chain? (should of added this in before>&gt i'll trail ride 80% of the time, snow ride 15% of the time, and the 5% is light mudding.

I've always run bearclaws on my blaster and it was no harder on the chain then the stockers were, but when I had on excavators for winter the chain seemed to go through a little more punishment. I currently run bearclaws on my kfx700 and I think there one of the best multi use tires.

Whats the worst you guys have seen a 2wd quad go through? is the manual clutch smoother than my foremans ES?
