400ex ?

yeah i have a 04' 400ex, everything is stock and i was wondering if there is any way to reduce the overheating prob i tend to have. I've heard it is just a tendancy for this machine to do it but it doens't hurt to see if someone has found a solution.
I do regular maintenance on it and i love the machine but this seems to be the only prob i have with it once and a while

I'm guessing you can't fix it with duct tape, WD40, or a band-aid so you're in trouble?
I have owned two 400ex's ('01 and '05) and ridden them hard without any overheating problems. Why do you say it is overheating?

The EX does NOT have a tendency to overheat! I ride desert, and the only time it heats up is if I am pullin a really big dune on a very hot day.
There may be something wrong with your machine, like maybe it is jetted lean???

It could possibly have sucked up some trash and its makin it run lean, running your air box lid off could have done it. Another thing it are you riding slow and its not getting enough airflow being an air-cooled engine?

well everyone thanks for the suggestions on what may be doing it. I think though i might have found the problem. With a combination of a oil change, filter cleaning and removal of the iron ore mud nicely baked on to the oil resevior and removing air lid box it seems to be running better and cooler. thanks for the help and suggestions.
