if it is staying at high rpms and you haven't riden it for a while i would clean out the carb since it has been sitting with gas in it for a while and make sure the cable and everything is lubed up and ready to ride since you haven't ridden it for a while

Good word. More specifically, check your jets and make sure there's no buildup in their important parts. Your spark plug should readily inform you as to how the fuel system is behaving in regards to the upper RPM range. Just run it out (for a short period) and check the plug. The more soot/general depositing that is on the plug, the richer it is. So if your plug is bony white and perfectly clean, check the main jet. (hopefully, that would also bring about your concern for the rest of the fuel system, and your concience would force you to give it the once-over) Probably clogged/deposit-tapered. If not, shoot me another post. or a PM. I don't care. I know so much about that bike and have so much seat time I've gotten bored and am buying a different one.
