Default honda 440ex

So I am thinking about putting a Tudor's 440 kit on my '02 400ex. Not sure if it is really worth the cash, does anyone know if it really makes a difference? I am not sure if I am willing to fork up so much money for a 450. Spending 1100 is much better than putting a hole in my pocket when purchasing a new honda 450.
Thoughts anyone?

I put a 440 kit in my old 400ex, and to be honost I wouldn't do it again. Yes, the extra power was nice, but it still wasn't enough to put it on par with the more advanced sport quads. 400ex's are great all around quads that will run 4-ever, but they just aren't power houses. If you really feel the need to have a lot more performance, I would look into another quad IMO.

Haha........psyche...dont buy a yamaha.......the motors go to junk real fast.......sure, they have a little more power, but with a few mods, you will be able to keep up no problem, Listen to motox26, I have a 2005 trx400ex bored out to a 440, with an pro circuit ti-4 exhaust, dynojet jet kit, and other mods that arent motor related......and three of my other friends have 2007 trx450r's, and i cant even keep close on track or road.....trx450's rock!!!!! Just trade in your ex and get the 450.....

You can pick up a new 05 450R for $5000 OTD so if you can sell your 400ex for $3900 that would be a good deal, the 06-07 are a bit faster but they are also substantialy more expensive.

I would condsider another quad as suggested I have a 2007 trx 450r and am really really happy with it all you will need to know about them before going to get one is they must be maintained and continually check over the quad...man I love my 450r and couldn't have made a better choice for a 450...the ergonomics of the quad are awesome and tons of power...it would be worth spending the money on a 450 not the bore...and yes if you can find an 05 450r they go for around 5k but that is if you can settle for kick start or you could jest get an 06 or 07 450er which is the electric version...wish you luck take a look at my pics I just bought an 07 with a red frame and graphics

Everybody that has an 06-07 loves them, I was on a budget and looking for a used quad and I couldn't pass up a new 05.

I've built a few 416 / 426 / 440 / 465 in my day. The Sparks 465 that I sold for an '04 450R walked all over any stock 450 ever made. It was quicker up Comp Hill than my 686 Raptor. Have I been on faster Raptors, 250R's or built 450's since? Yes. But to tell someone that 440's are worthless is not accurate. If you can find someone to buy your quad for 4k and pick up a 450 for 5k should you do it? Yeah. Good luck getting 4k out of an 02 400ex though.
