With regular maintnance and not abusing it how many hours are you guys getting out of your R's before they need a rebuild?

I understand that with racing it will be more frequent but I won't be doing any of that, it will be more of a trail machine.

There are a number of them that I know of with over 100+ hours, and these all have the HRC kit (which is suposed to require more frequent rebuilds than stock). But, these have all been very well maintained, and followed the recommendations for very, very frequent oil changes, air filter cleaning, and valve adjustments!

 

I bought mine in Feb. 2004 and have never had a bit of trouble with it. I installed an Athena 480 big bore on it last June and the stock piston and cylinder looked to be in great shape!
I don't race, just trail ride and dunes.
I think the 450R is a very reliable machine and will last along time with proper maintenance.

 

Riding the way you and I do, I'd throw out the HOURS and ask how many YEARS till a rebuild. I'm hoping for at least 10 years. Some anr going to laugh at that but lets wait and see.[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-disgusted.gif[/img][img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif[/img]

 

well i have had to rebuild mine twice in less than 2 years. top end rebuilds that is. i change my oil every 1-2 rides and clean the air filter every ride. i guess my mom was right when she said i was destructive and always break my toys

 

Get rid of the K&N and put a Uni on it and I bet it lasts longer!
