oil filter on recon

Default oil filter on recon

i cant seem to find the oil filter for the recon, i have a 2004, i know that there is a screen but do not know of the filter also is there a gas filter or just screen?

The screen is internal. You can't get to it without tearing engine down. Just keep your oil changed and don't worry about it.

Default oil filter on recon

These engines (Recon, 250EX, and 90) have a centrifugal oil cleaner and a screen, that need to be serviced by the dealer about every 100 hours. Sounds weird, but it is a system that works quite well!

Default oil filter on recon

My buddy's Recon probably has 300 hours on his with regular oil changes, and the engine has never been cracked open.

yea id say mine has mabye 250 hrs on it and the owners manual dosnt say anything like that.....however how bad would it be if i didnt do that

The owner's manual sure DOES mention it! Look at the service schedule page. Interval is every 200 hours.

Default oil filter on recon

I looked at the service manual, and it isn't all that involved. Just pull off the front engine cover and the centrifuge is right there underneath. Remove 3 bolts, take off the cover and clean it, clean the inside, replace the o-ring, and reseal the cover and put it all back together.
