While using my 4wheeler at the lease this weekend I heard a clanking noice coming form what i tought was the rear end. Got home last night and started to tear it down when I noticed the axle flexs inside the housing. My first thougth was the bell housing bearing , only to pull up the schematic and not see a bell housing bearing??? it is shifting fine so I don't think it is the final gear drive. Possibly u-joint??? but only seems to be when turning left or going over bumps. I had thought for sure that bearing went out.

Does anyone know if the flexing would be normal or is that indication that something has gone out. it makes a clunck sound like something is hitting it and for the life of me I can't fiqure it out.

BTW I had to remove the rear brake drum cover and brake drum due to the rust and years of mistreatment. (I bought used)

sounds llike you could have some rear swing arm bearings bad. If there was rust in the brake panel you may need to rebuild your rear diff.
