hey everyone,
I'm the new guy. My dad just bought 2 Rancher 350s for me and him to have something to do when im home since ive moved off to college. Ive owned a honda 400ex before, but im new to the utility world, was hoping you all could get me into the swing of things. Im not even sure what model I have since we havent picked them up yet. How capable are the rancher 350s? Ive riden 4wheelers all my life, just never got the chance to own, maintain, and modify a utility style. They are manual tranny 2005 models, 4x4. I want to make it really capable off road. Winch, snorkel, etc. Ill search around, but I would love to know best places to buy lift kits, and if they are even needed. i work at an offroad car shop, so i know all about vehicle suspensions, but not 4wheelers. Basically, here is yalls opportunity to take a new guy and direct him in the best ways to go, haha. I appreciate all of the help, and I look forward to being a part!

First thing you want to get is a Warn 424. That will turn it into a selectable 2wd/4wd. It is currently full time 4wd.
The Rancher is a basic entry level machine. It is very capable, but it isn't a powerhouse by any means. I sure wouldn't put a lift kit on one (why raise the center of gravity and make it top heavy?), and I even left the winch off because it proved to just be dead weight.

424, intake snorkle(plus carb lines),26 inch tires, better air filter, new exhaust pipe, rejet, after-market rims( usually lighter and off-set),di-electric grease in all electrical connectors, big bore kit, clutch, whinch, bumpers, personally i think lift kits make the rancher look a hole lot meaner! recon ranger doesnt like any quads over 50lbs, and no more ground clearance than a big wheel! just playin rr!
