Default CRF600X Dirt Bike in the Works????

But do 2 strokes and 4 strokes have the same amount of power on average as 4 strokes? if you measure the hp and torque from 2500-8500rpm every 500 rpm, and avg them, i bet the 2 stroke would come out on top. And so what if a two stroke has only way more power on top, then only skilled people who can shift quickly and smoothly and work a clutch in a skilled manner will kill everyone if they ride two strokes. What is the logic behind changing the racing classes, they are already pretty fair, (thats what the booklet i got at the walton transcan MX said)

Why did honda just come out with the crf150r to race against the cr85r, if in 2 years the crf150r will become obsolete because it cant compete with the (future) cr150r? Will kawi reintroduce the kx500 as a 450, and will zuki come out with a smaller 450zilla if the atv classes change too? it jsut sounds weird to me, i hope it doesnt happen in canada.

Default CRF600X Dirt Bike in the Works????

I heard rumors of a factory street legal dual sport motorcycle with XR650R motor but that was over one year ago. I have heard nothing lately. Seems to me that Honda is putting all their off road eggs into the 450X architecture with both factory teams running them. I don't see Honda coming out with a fourth open class sport quad in any case. There was market for 650EX three years ago but IMO less of a market now.

Probably sooner than that, the AMA is days away from anouncing if they approved the new rules changes. No more 4-stroke handicaps, each class will be set by cc's.

Example: 250cc 2-stroke vs. 250cc 4 stroke
but that would be so unfair, power wise, and they would have to design completely new engines,

it would be more fair is 4 strokes would be 1.5X the cc's of two strokes, then the 2 strokes would still have a lot more high rpm power, and the 4 strokes would have more low rpm power

i find it hard to believe that 2502s will be racing 2504s, everyone is going back to 2 strokes then. (what is the average power ratio of250 2 strokes and250 4 strokes- both completely modded to the max? wouldnt the 2 stroke have like 1.75X more power than the 4 stroke? or would it be closer to 2X?

Actualy the 250 4 stroke can produce 45-47hp in race trim, the 250 2 stroke put down about 48-52hp in race trim BUT the 250 4 stroke will have better powerband with more torque from idle to mid. I think this is very fair. They just out classed the 250 2 stroke when they made them race the 450's, same with the 125's and 250 4 strokes. I think they should just make the 450's the open bike class

EXACTLY!!!!

That's in the proposed changes. A 125cc type class, a 250cc type class, and a Open class, all three the same regardless of how many strokes.

It passed the AMA commitee (who represent the riders and members) UNANIMOUSLY, but the bonehead AMA Board of Directors declined it for this year. Which is basically a bitch slap to all the AMA riders and members out there. There is a lot of people in a up roar over this right now.

What did they do to that crf250 or whatever they used, thats a lot of power for a 250, how much hp does a 450 have? The ktm450 has 59hp stock, thats supposed to be amazing? but your telling me a modded 250 can pump out already 47hp? So if you multiplay the hp on a 250 by 1.8 (that is 450 divided by 250) you get the hp on a 450, if thats true, a 450 can pump out 84.6hp, that is nuts,

And if this is true, how come a 450r cant beat a zilla? or what about a highly modded preddy versus a modded zilla

Ummm, no 450f is pushing 59hp stock, they are high 40's stock.

Quads are very choked up from the factory, stick a CRF450 engine in it and you would have a good match.

Does a crf450r have high40s HP stock? Then what did they do to the crf250r to put it up to 45hp? I guessed they would run around 30stock and 35modded.

What is wrong with the manufacturers that they choke up the quads when they are stock, WHY DONT THEY JUST UNLEASH THE POWER?, The trx450r, yfz450, and ltr450 are designed to race arent they? Would it really cost that much more to let them breathe fire stock? and what kind of idiot rides a 450 on trails? Thats what the 400's are for, and if you feel your not going fast enough through your forest, then have fun blowing turns and nailing trees.

What is the point of down tuning a crf450 and turning it into a trx450? would the good version be too dangerous? Then how come the dirtbike isnt dangerous?

I agree why dont they unleash the power on the 450r... It doesnt make any sence to choke it down... If anything the dirt bike is more dangerous, hit one small rock the right way on a dirt bike and say good bye... I would like to see EFI and a programmable ECU with some type of performance tuning with selectable levels like a desiel. I hate jetting my bike all the time plus i never know if it is dead on... PLUS with EFI a turbo would be totally possible just increase the injector size and boost it up...

Because on quads people aren't afraid to use the power with the false sense of security and quad gives. It's a shame, but it's the truth.
