I will take care of this thread once and for all!
(at least for my quads) I wiegh 290-300 and my cousin wieghs 145-150 I have A 400ex 400 4x4 sc and a 300 ex short drag me on the 40o ex always I win Sc 2nd and 300ex last long drag 1/4 mile or longer the 400ex stays in front the Sc 2nd and the 300ex last but not by much. Mine is a 4x4 so I am not sure about 2x4 but I know I smoke my friends 400L. I love all the bikes so this is not polaris bashing or 300ex bashing I'm just ststing the facts

Better re-read your post there quad040...
My 4x4 Scrambler "piece of junk", as you imbeciles call it, can most certainly beat your 400ex. If I can get the holeshot on my buddy's Shee and after about 150 feet stick behind him by a few quad lengths all the way...I don't think a puny 400 4-stroke is any match.
It all depends on the quad and the rider.
Don't let it get to you. Your still tough...LOL

mine are stock and I know for a fact the results above are true my 400 sc does have the green spring and now a wiesco piston since the damn thing blew up. and now I have a blown head gasket this is getting ridiculous I keep the quad only because it is fun to ride and with the green spring i can now pull wheelies but I think this time it will be sold just to much money to keep it going.

I'm not gonna tell you what I heard, or what a friend of a friend told me. Here's what happened in MY case. Me, on my Sport, lined up with my buddy on his 400EX, both stock. 10 for 10 drags, we were dead even. After I had mine piped and clutched, I could cross the finish line, take off my helmet, and light a cigarette before he crossed the line. He swore his just needed a tune-up.

he was merely stating the facts
I have heard many tales...I have heard that a SC 400 2x4 can beat a 400ex and vise versa, I have heard that a SC400 2x4 can give a shee a good run, now I believe all of this, but dont come out right and say stock for stock a 400ex will always beat a Scrambler.
I wanna see some proof! show me some videos .mpeg1, 2, 3, 4, 5, runs of both stock machines on a dirtpack 500 yard run, and no im not coming to youre town to watch or race.
Thank you for youre time.

I have beat a 400ex three ways to Sunday.
Way 1
100 yard reverse drag----No contest
Way 2
100 yard drag in MUD-----No contest
Way 3
100 yard drag---Holeshot to finish line...No contest (but close enough to be interesting)
I believe (know) a properly piped (with a properly tuned clutch) Scrambler (400 4x4) will beat a 400ex with a pipe and K&N airfilter because I have done it..
Sorry

Well, if you were racing in the woods, I would have to say that the 400EX would definitely win because the Polaris rider was probably clotheslined by a tree branch and completely thrown off of his machine because he sits way to high. Through deep mud I would still give the 400EX the edge, because when both of you get stuck the EX rider will not have to wait for the national guard to help lift him out. O.K., the Polaris wins in reverse, but how often do you ride for extended times in reverse? I also think that the EX will get the edge on "pit stop", you know, maintenance times. Oh, and who could forget, the Polaris is just plain UGLY, they really need to do something with that plastic. When I was looking at buying a new quad I had actually considered a 400L, I went to the dealer and looked at them, I drove one, I saw too many being towed down the lake where I ride in the winter, I tried to lift one (felt something start to go so I stopped), I made a decision. NO POLARIS. So I went and bought a 400EX. It looks, handles and runs excellent. Before I bought the EX I had a 250R, I miss the 250R but don't have any regrets about getting the 400EX. I really shouldn't bash the Polaris, I am sure many people have good luck with them, but then again, I have met people that have had excellent luck with their Yugo's. The Yugo just isn't for me, nor is the Polaris.
