Default Best Air Filter for 06 450er?

What is the best filter to run on a 06 450er? I have read many posts about filters and it seems like the general consensus in that K&N's will allow a small amount of dirt to pass. And will toast the valves. Were people using the outerwear's on the filters when this happened? I ride trails and tracks in Ohio and Penn. So in your opinion what are the best air filters to use, and what are your experiences with those filters?

Thanks
Nez

I have an 04, and I run the ProDesign aluninum adapter and their foam filter (made by UNI).........I highly recommended these!

There was someone in here claiming that the intake on the stock 06/07 is so good, that just staying stock is the best way to go (???????).

Do not run the stock UNI's, because the plastic collar of the insert they use to hold the filter open is weak an will eventually buckle.

I ran K&N's (with Outerwears) for a while, and would always have film of dust when I would wipe out my intake tract. Quit using them....better safe than sorry!

Recon, you are correct.

I had the ESR air box eliminator kit with K&N filter/outer wear on the 2006 because it worked well on my 2004.

I replaced the ESR intake and put the stock air box/tube and the DASA billet adapter K&N filter\outerwear and gained 1 hp on the dyno when combined with the DASA pipe as compared to the ESR intake/DASA pipe combo. Feels snappier too.

I would imagine that any power difference between the pro design and DASA air filter adapters would be very small.

Plus, I wouldn't know what the UNI cross over would be for the DASA adapter.
