2001 300EX

That pretty good YZGUY that you remembered that.
Yep, got the ole arthris thing going. Its in by neck, arms and back. I am going to try a few exercises this winter to try to get my arms and hands a bit stronger so I can shift. If I can't do it, I figured I would trade in the 300ex for a 250. But my hubby seems to think that I will do much better with the 300 suspension and that will make up for the shifting. I think if I just go slow like I always do anyway, that I won't have to worry about it. I am going to look for a stablizer for the 300 online, just to see how much they run. Thanks for all the info... it really helps. Not so blue anymore!

I had a 300 ex for a couple of years...Let me tell you...that was one of the most bullet proof quads I have ever owned. I used to let it sit covered in mud for weeks on end....hit the starter and it fires right up.
The shift lever is a relatively easy pull...and for trail ride situations...you will not find yourself doing alot of shifting to begin with.
As mentioned...the reverse procedure could be better...But it's not too bad.
The suspension is perfect for the trails (nice and plush). Even though you say no wheelies or jumping are in your future....It can handle them with ease.
Gas seemed to last forever...especially on trail rides.
All and all...I would still have the quad if it was a bit more powerful for my riding style. I graduated to a banshee and a 400ex....there is a blaster still hanging around the garage too..But it seems to see less and less use.

I got a PEP stabilizer from White Bros., it's overpriced (like everything) at around $100. I had to install it different from what they said in the instructions. Or, just take the closer off your screen door and ...
Another thing about the 300, the throtle button is harder to push than other bikes if that is a problem. Maybe you could lighten up the return spring or something??

kilrfx-everytime I go into the review section, something happens to my computer. It says on the screen "parameter incorrect" and then it freezes up on me. I try to avoid all the reviews, unless it is a new one... then for some reason, they work. I got into it one time and thats how I heard about this shifter, and right after that it froze up and I couldn't get back in.

Hey HondaMan-My hubby is 5'10" and he says that he feels a bit cramped by it. He perfers his 400ex.
Also, you are young, and I am sure you are going to grow abit. You may want to look into something bigger. Just my opionion.

lilgirlblue-The reason i chose the 300ex, is because i was deciding between it and and 89 250R. Either one i'm gonna buy used and fix up. On the 300ex i was going to install a 330kit so i could get the power to outrun the 400ex's. And the 250R i love, but it's two stroke and i'll have to spend money on it each year to rebuild the engine, thats why i'm goin with the 300ex. So what do you think?

HondaMan-If your sure you want the 300ex and you think you won't mind that its small, I have the perfect place to find a used one on the net. Go to cycle trader online. I found my 2001 honda 300ex for only $3500, and that has a clear title.
The guy was older and only rode it a few times before he decided he wanted a 4X4. We had to drive 7 hours one way to pick it up, but it was worth it. Anyway... if you want to find that perfect quad, go to this site and check it out. It has hundreds of them.
