Default Battery?

I have a 06 foreman, I dont run it much in the winter but need it sometimes to bring wood in. Can I take the battery out and still run the machine and just use the pull start or does the battery need to be connected to run electronics? thanks.

you may burn out the stator removing the battery from the circuit unless it has built in protection, i wouldn't do it but thats me

have you thought about a battery tender jr?

I have one, they work well. Pigtail stays installed, just plug it in when you aren't riding. I wish they made these years ago, it would have paid for itself in batteries many times over.

It maintains a full charge on the battery.

From their site (http://batterytender.com):

"The Battery Tender Junior is much more than a trickle charger. It has a brain. It's lightweight, compact, and fully automatic; very easy to use, especially in small spaces. It will keep your battery fully charged so that it is ready to go when you are!"

I paid 29.99 on Ebay.

You have a 12volt battery in your atv. All atv batteries, even import kids atv's, are 12 volt. I don't think anything uses 6 volt anymore.

hey i bought the same thing like a "battery tender" at auto zone in deer park wa. its called a "battery companion" and i think it was 34.00. same thing as the companion where you can just leave your stored battery on all winter. its feature is it switches from full charge to float mode monitoring. comes with a pig tail plug-in, perminately mounted on the battery terminals for easy disconnect. its rated 1.5 amps and 6 or 12 volt. i have it connected to my rubicon out in the garage all winter and it keeps it charged just fine. well worth the investment.

Another vote for Battery Tender Jr.

Batteries self-discharge over time, and sitting in a less than fully charged state shortens their life. Having your toys always ready to start, plus longer useful life from your batteries makes them well worth the price.

I run one on my ATV and another one on my Harley. They even make a waterproof model for outdoor use...
