Just rebuilt one from the trans up. 400 12:5:1 89mm piston, has 102 compression an plenty of spark. Running stock carb just to get it running. I have 93 octane in tank, it's full. In nuteral just will not pop?
Help!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry, yes it's in time. I did try to use a used cam tightener to make sure the new one was right. It works fine on the old bike.
Just can not figure it out. Is the 12:5 piston ok to run on 93 octane? Wiseco states it's ok.

Have you checked the simple stuff like spark (yes you have), making sure gas is getting into the cylinder and the carb isn't stuck, making sure that the valves are set at the correct clearances, and timing is really important but you said you checked that also...just for the heck of it will it popstart

400EX 2003 (Bench top motor as spare)
New:
Hot rod
Crank
Main Bearings
440 89mm 12:5 Weisco Piston
Valves
Stage 1 cam
Oil Seals
Rockers
All above brand new.
I have not tried to pull it behind the truck as we have quite a bit of iced up streets. That is the next try. Valves are set at 0.15 exhast 0.13 in intake. It's all in time tried to retard 1 link back an 1 link forward, no good.
I'm looking to get some 101 octane an try that. I have methonal, but to leary on running it in a brand new motor. I do not want to hook my 41 mm FCR up to this motor thinking it may have too much fuel? It turns over freely an sounds good, just no fire. Have checked the fuse by the sel Has me completely puzzeled.
By the way glad to be here? Just did not think I would be the one asking the questions.
