Honda 300 waterproof?
#1
My friend has a kawasaki 220 bayou. It has a back up recoil starter. Every time he submerges his quad water gets into the engine through the recoil. Today it started bubling out of the recoil. I thought it was kind of funny because I have a kickstarter. I think it keeps out the atwer better than the pull start. What do you guys think about this comparison?

Well to be honest with you I have a recon and I've had it completely under water , more than once (I should have bought a boat ) and I haven't got any water from the recoil at all. But I recently put a home made snorkel off of the air box and it completely solved my water in the engin problem .After carful considereation and discusion with my engeneer friends , we relized that the water comes into the engin oil only through air breathers .So the main breether for the crank is in the air box.Keep the water out of there and you got yourself a boat..of course it still will stall , but when you drag it out , you won't have to change the oil . I've now had it completly under water and running for about 60 seconds(a long time under water )and when I got out , I had perfectly clean oil , so I would gather that the bubles coming out of the recoil are probably just air trapped , but who knows , hope the info helpped .

Ok. I guess I was wrong on this one. What exactly did you do to make the air breather out of the air box? Is it very difficult?
