Default Which to buy?

I have a 05 400ex and i am going to put a exhaust on it. I am lookin at just gettin the full system and i have been lookin at Hmf and Lrd. I know a few people that are very happy with their Hmf. I don't know much about Lrd but i heard that they are pretty good. I am lookin to get the most power.

I think he asked what pipe to get not what machine to get. 450's are not always the better machine to buy. In tight wooded trails I would take a 400EX over any 450. If my riding was done mostly in sand dunes then I would prefer a 450.

MACK, true, stock the 450r would suck in the tight trails. all you have to do it tooth it down in the front 1 tooth and your good to go. it becomes a great trail bike. i know what he asked i was just kidding with him!

My suggestion is to get a slip on and keep the excellent stock head pipes. Stock headers will provide more low to mid range performance than a full system and that is what most stock trail 400EXs need. If you are thinking of building a high output big bore to run with 450s then get a 450.

I think you should look at Big Gun products. Here is fantastic piece on Mike Young Jr. who has many 4 stroke championships as a rider and development consultant.

My point was that for many riders a slip on is often a better choice than full system due to the loss of performance at low end where most 400EX riders need the boost.

Big gun makes a sweet pipe. I had the Curtis sparks pipe, but i liked the big gun alot better. they are reasonable, sound great, and you will like the performance. i know you wanted to know what pipe, i was just telling you that you made a mistake with your bike choice, just giving you a hard time.

I was thinking you made a mistake in your bike choice, since more than likely you can't even ride yours to it's potential.
