That's a good price on em. I would have probably tried to work a 2 for $8000 deal but you got a good price anyway. No freight and set up right?
Pay no attention to cross forum trolls like kickass210 Every discussion forum has a few sorry little fanboys that like to knock others down to make themselves feel bigger, fortunately there are but a few I've seen in the Honda forum. I actually pitty those types of people, or rather those peoples families...

I've got an 06 Honda Rancher 2WD ES and it has been thru hell and back. I haven't had a single issue with the "Electric Shift" and I like it much better than using the peg to shift with. I can pay more attention to the trails vs trying to remember exactly what gear I'm in because with the ES model it displays what gear, speed, miles, trip, time, and hours of service I've got vs the non ES models without the pod.
I've added a 2500LB winch along with a set of 26inch ITP rims & Mud Lite tires. It helped with about an 1 1/2 of extra ground clearance, but I would like more since that is truely the only thing that stops me in the deep thick mud is bottoming out or high centering.
Just yesterday out on the trails behind my house a buddy and I came across a stuck 02 Jeep Wrangler (completely stock) with a bunch of 16 year olds behind the wheel. They went into the worst possible hole and totally sunk their Jeep. We used both our 2500LB winches combined with those kids friend in a Ford Ranger as a land anchor and pulled the stuck Jeep out! It was an awesome day of riding that's for sure

Hi Best,
At this point I am not sure I am getting a deal, what with a solid rear axle, 4x4 without a diff lock, drum brakes, no full auto tranny and no low range.
Still looking.....
Thanks!

Don't let the diff lock sway your decision unless to intend to do some serious mud.
I ride with alot of people with honda's and they are the one machine that just seems to never break down. I'll admit, I like my IRS cat TRV but I don't have diff lock and can get through the same mud holes as the popo's.

Golf-I'm confused.....Have you purchased these already??? Not yet and having 2nd thoughts???
Personally I prefer solid rear axles (you have to ride a top heavy 700 pound IRS machine off-camber on a nasty hill to know why!), it gives a more sporty ride. The Honda front diff is an excellent torque sensing design and you will probably never need lockers. The brakes will be ok unless you are an endless mud wallower. I say skip the ES and save yourself $400.
Better yet, get Rancher 420's if you can!
