450r Elec or kick?????
#14
kickstarting just gives a feeling of satisfaction that no electrc starter can ever give. plus. if ur kick start fails to start, you keep kicking. if you electric starter fails to start, you sit there on a $7000 lawn chair...

I cant understand why there would be problems with the electric start (well mostly because those complaining are not telling us specifics) as I have not had any with any others I have had on atv's.
Could those with past problems with the starter elaborate on what happened etc????
I remember first time I pushed that starter button on my old warrior and thought it was kinda weird after kicking everything before it etc, but I got to be honest I have become very happy hittin the button on the 440 and have not had any issues with it either.
So whats the real probs with the button on the 450??

i rode with some that had the 450ERs and seemed like the starter or batt just didnt have the umph to turn the engine over to have it hit right up. i unloaded mine, 2 kicks in the cold and i was warming up. they cranked and cranked...finally they started. i admit it would be nice to hit a button after long 90-100degree and HIGH humidity riding days (this heat is fatiguing around here in the summer - not like you lucky californians have it!)... having both is ideal. honda should have offered the same setup like the YFZ. i personally have never seen a yfz struggle to start...

I have a couple 500cc 250r's and although they kick back with the kind of timing i run in them, i cant say i've ever hit my knees on the bars.

I run some pretty high compression in my 440 and the starter is original oem and the damn thing cranks like crazy, so I cant understand why the higher tech 450r wouldnt be the same or even better.
Dont misunderstand me as most all of us over 30 have had no choice but to kick in the past, and much as its not normally an issue at all it is still a lot easier to just hit that button especially when your not in the same physical condition as you may have been in the past. Its not as bad as having to pull your machine out of the ditch you got into from pushing yourself hard etc, but its still energy you could use.
So whats the problem with the starter???
