Honda 420 vs Outlander 400
#1
I'll be buying 2 new ATVs in the next couple of months. I use them for work in the Alberta Oil Patch. Alot of time is spent driving down old cut lines and 'floating' through muskeg. I've narrowed my choice down to 2 quads: 2007 Can-Am 400 H.O. XT and the 2007 Honda TRX420FM, they're both about the same price (cnd$10,000 total), including tax, winch and extended warranty (Honda Canada sells "Honda Plus" warranty). I need a reliable cold weather ATV (we work below 0 Fahrenheit). I need a good donkey not a big race horse. I have a some questions for the forum:
1. Does Can-Am offer the 400 H.O. XT with a manual transmission ?
2. Does the Can-Am 400 H.O. XT have E.F.I. ?
3. What are the advantages of E.F.I. ?
4. Can the Apache track system be fitted to the 400 model ?
5. What is your opinion on the differences between the 2 models ?
Thanks for your time in helping me out :-)

I don't know about the Can Am's but, the Honda is rock solid. Around Rocky Mtn. House all you see in the back of pickups is a reliable ol' Honda.

You are looking for more of a work quad, and that may not be either of these?????
My buddy has am Outlander 400, and I am absolutely NOT impresses by it in any way......
The 420 is VERY sporty, and that's coming from a sport quad rider. Great suspension and handling, but I don't see it as being the greatest work quad choice.
If it were me, I would think about the Honda Foreman 500???? On the other hand the 420 is super comfortable, so if you aren't dong really heavy work (hauling heavy loads, etc.), maybe the 420 little will serve you best????
