Default cracked block on 300ex

about a few months back i was riding and there was a loud boom i stoped and my quad was shooting oil out by the front sproket. for sometime i tought i busted the gasket just today i looked and theirs a crack behind the sprocket. i got a metal epoxy that has a heat range from -60f-300f and stands up to 4500psi on the pack it says it can be used to fill cracks but it has to be put on both sides.will it stand up to the pressure and heat the motor makes if its used on oneside im not trying to pay over 500 dollors too replace the caseing( not counting labor ). i seen it used on cracked mounts on the motor of a pocket bike and it worked great for 4 years and nevered failed. the crack is about one inch long and very thin it doesnt leak oil when cold and while the engines running and level i didnt check if it would leak while warmedup or on the grab bar it started to snow so i packed it in ill try to doit when its better out . did any one ever do some thing like this?

i wasn't running with the case saver thing behind my sprocket one day with an insufficient lubed chain and it bound up in there and made a gash in it.. barely leaked any oil.. boys at the local honda shop told me to use JB weld to just cover it up or the metal epoxy stuff.. said it would be much cheaper then getting it welded or buying a new case.. i went ahead though and bought a 250x case and sold the other on ebay as is.. but, i've heard of it happening to a number of machines.

if a dealer said to doit it must work great. when theirs no more snow on the ground here i going to check for leaks if the leak is less then it was at the drags im putting it on also thicker oil to make it harder for oil to comeout. i know what caused it i put to much oil in the case too many times.

something strange today i was riding the quad in the snow to see if it would leak but it didnt the only oil dripping was coming from the frame because their oil still on it from draging. i put it on the grab bar for 10 min still didnt leak ? people on here that had a crack were i do got it from the chain hitting the case (like what happened to you)and busting holes in them and i remember tighting the chain before riding today.but im putting on the epoxy and a case saver. the only thing that let me know the chain was loose was going in reverse and and hearing a strange nosie so now im checking the chain before every run

The real question is, What 300ex, 250x or Warrior 350 more than 5 years old DOESN'T have JB weld on the crank case. It's a very common problem. Even if you get a case saver you can have a chain bunch up so bad that it just busts the saver out of the case, causing just as big of a hole. Take care of your chains and keep it adusted.
