Default 400ex compression release

all right, i have a 2002 400ex, piped, jetted, k&n'd. i have got quite a few hrs on the beast, lately i have been having a problem with the compression release. it is sticking and making a loud ticking noise, causing a loss of power 1/2 thottle and above. well no power at all. read up in the manual and it has me rock the crank back and fourth via left side acess place and alen wrench. this took care of the problem for about 2 or 3 hrs then it came back. i have done this twice. i was wondering if any one else has had this happen on there 400ex or any other honda. i did a search on here and coudlnt find any thing helpfull so mabe you will be able to help me. i appreciate any help. i have a basic concept on how it works but in no case total knowledge. thks

I've never experienced what you are experiencing with your machine. I do, however have a solution, or at least it's how I'd "solve" the problem.
It sounds to me like you have a darn good excuse to put in a performance cam, since they do away with the automatic compression release. That should fix your problem.
