I'm rejetting and buying a slip on pipe for my 400EX. I want to put a new air filter on it and was gonna go with the K&N filter but the more people I talk too, it seems they let dirt through real easy, is this true?? For 50$ and another 10$ for the outerwear is it really worth tryin to trust them becasue I ride in pretty dusty conditions in the summer. What filter should I go with? Any help would be appreciated!!!

If you ride in dusty conditions definitely go with a quality foam filter.

 

There is nothing wrong with the stock foam filter. Get an outerwears cover and go ride and have some fun.

Get a Uni-Filter. About $18. Dual stage foam.

 

I agree with Quadfather, go Uni foam and keep the stocker cleaned and oiled in a ziplock bag for a quick change.

 

Get a Uni-Filter . They are about 2 inches longer than the stock and allow for great airflow.
I paid 28$ for mine for my 2000 400ex( soon to be 440)
