Default jets for 400ex

i think i need to jet my 400ex. All i have is a sport series HMF slip on. i dont really want to jet my 400 but people say i will have problems if i dont. So what is the cheapest jet kit that will make my quad run good and not to lean or w/e???

You don't need a jet kit, just a couple single jets. They are about 5 bucks a piece.

List other mods if any, then jetting tips can be given. If everything else is stock, you will probably only need to go up one main jet size and be good to go.

I agree, just buy a couple of main jets, 150 and 152, and maybe a bigger pilot jet, a 40. If you decide to remove the air box lid, or put holes in it, youll need to richen even more. Dennis kirk has jets for about 2.60 , or jets r us has them about that price too. No need for a 50 dollar jet kit.

150 will work 152 if you have k&n and modded airbox 40 or 42 pilot

I was also thinking of buying a jet kit, however, if I can just buy the individual jets, that will work as well. Any recommendations on sizes for all of my mods listed below? I want to have this done pretty soon since it seems like the weather will be breaking and staying pretty decent for a while. I was also contemplating buying a Dial a Jet. I just received the EHS racing lid in the mail and plan on the running that a majority of the time but if I ride in really wet/muddy conditions, I would like to put the normal air box lid on. Does anyone think this justifies a dial a jet? Or just run w/ the EHS lid and make sure that I have a good oil base on my filter? Thanks for your time and input!
