So i'm working on a project, small bike.

I have ridden a 2003 Trx 90 few times...small engine, quiet, auto clutch, and its honda.

trx90 is 250lbs + rider (another 150)

And it moves pretty damn good, and fast.
So that is why i want to get this engine.



Where is the best/cheapest place to get trx90 engine?

There is a local honda dealer just down the block, first time i went there and i told them i need trx90 engine...they told me "too bad, we don't sell engine, you gotta bring and rebuild what you have"

Next day i call and talk to the manager, he said "Dude i can get you ANYTHING you want," he was pretty cool. As I remember he said it will cost something like $1400...not cheap.


I been looking on ebay forever...can't find trx90 engine.

Any help?

 

why would you want a 90 though to start a project? are you going to put it in a dirtbike? that is the only way i can see a 90 being able to hit 50-60mph.

 

No not a dirt bike, just small street bike...

The reason i want this engine is is because it comes with 4 speed tranny, it will last for a while, and no where loud as 2 stroke.

How fast does trx90 go? about 35mph? If it pushes 400lbs to that speed, then i'm guessing it would push 200lbs to at least 50-55mph, which is more then enough.

 

Why dont you just buy a Yamaha TT-R90 dirtbike with 3 or 4 speed autoclutch? it produces excellent power for its displacement, the tt-r90 produces more power than the Kawazuki drz/klx110. I've driven both.

 

The reason i want the trx90 atv engine, because at is so big and heavy and yet that small 90 engine is so great.

You think ttR90 engine would have about equal power as trx90?

 

definately, the tt-r90 is a very good engine and will probably have much more power than the trx90,

Those are the specs for a TT-r90, but i doubt that the honda has that high numbers,

Power: 5.49 HP (4.0 kW)) @ 7000 RPM
Torque: 6.10 Nm (6 nm or 4.5 ft.lbs)

You said the trx90 will do 35mph? i doubt that, that is as fast as a Polaris phoenix 200, I think a stock trx90 won't exceed 20-25mph.

Then i guess it has about the same power as trx90 if not more...but just different gearing and sprockets since trx90 weighs a ton

 

You can get a 110cc engine for it (well, it fits the ATC70 anyway) for under $400.

(Might be a bit over 400 by the time you throw in a carb and any other goodies)
