Honda Fourtrax 4x4 HELP!

Default Honda Fourtrax 4x4 HELP!

I recently stared my Honda fourtrax and its having trouble shifting again. When i first recieved it from the pervious owner i did have the same issue it wont shift out of first without a fight. At the current moment i dont want to spend naother 3k just to get it looked at by dutchess rec.

ok, by "fourtrax" i'm assuming you're talking about the 300 fourtrax? I guess you could call the ranchers and foreman's 'fourtrax' also...

And you're not talking about a 400ex or 300ex right? those are manual clutches and i dont have much experience with those.

If you're talking about a utility type quad, there's an adjustment somewhere for the clutch. I think the older 300's were on the right-hand side of the engine case, the Ranchers/Foremans are on the front side of the engine case. It's a little slotted-type screw thing with a lock-nut around it. First, make sure the engine is off and machine is in neutral . hold the screw with a screwdriver, and use a wrench to loosen the nut. turn the screw part in (clockwise) a turn or so, then turn it the other way (counter-clockwise) until you feel resistance (the point where you cant turn it anymore with 2 fingers on the screwdriver) then go back the other way 1/4 turn, hold the screw here and tighten the locknut.
